Drawings are read by people who were not in the room when they were drawn. That only works because the symbols are conventional: a builder in Udon Thani reads the same marks the same way as one in Chiang Mai. Walls and what the hatching meansผนังและความหมายของลายแรเงา

Walls cut by the section plane are drawn as two parallel lines with the heaviest line weight on the sheet. Doorsประตู

Doors are usually labelled D1, D2, D3 and listed in a door schedule that gives the size, material and ironmongery. A window appears as three or four thin parallel lines across the wall opening. Casement windows show an arc like a door; sliding windows show an arrow. Grid lines and levelsเส้นกริดเสาและระดับ

Chain-dotted lines running through the building with circles at their ends are structural grid lines, lettered A, B, C across and numbered 1, 2, 3 up the sheet. Every column sits on an intersection, and setting out on site is done from them. A line across the plan ending in a heavy arrow with a circled reference such as A-A tells you a section is cut there and the arrow shows the direction of view. A circle drawn around part of the plan with a reference like 3/A-05 means that area is enlarged on another sheet.
